3D Character Model

I was assigned to create a 3D character model from scratch. These are the initial 2D sketches of the character I decided to make, which consisted of a front, side, and top view. Throughout the modelling process, the design would get slightly altered.

Using Maya, I created a model of the character. As it was my first time using the software, I had to make some edits to make the process easier for me, such as changing the stem of the pumpkin head from a bending root to a widened cylinder. Overall though, through making these models, I learned quite a bit about the software.

After modeling, I created a UV map and created a texture in Adobe Illustrator to put over it, before applying it to the model. The images above consist of the textured character and texture map. At this point as well, the scarf had to be removed due to some difficulties with the program.

Finally, using Maya, I made an idle, walking, and jumping animation for the character, which I inserted into Unreal Engine to make a full-fledged playable character. The video above shows the the final result in action.
